Allied Weed Control, Inc. is a family owned business operated by myself, Russell Spence, and my two sons, Alex, and Perrin. Our family has been involved in the pest control industry since 1961 when my father, Herb, began his career as an agricultural applicator. He later acquired his Pest Control Advisors License from the State of California, serving the farm community for nearly forty years before his retirement in 2001.
Following in his footsteps, I obtained a Pest Control Applicators License and launched a business in 1982 treating weeds and other pests in almond orchards. This business continued to grow and expanded to include almond stockpile fumigation, nematode and squirrel control in orchards, and fumigation of wood packaging products for the “Export WPM Fumigation Program”. In 2002 my oldest son, Alex, became the next in the family to join the industry when we purchased a “Weed Man” franchise. This entity caters to turf and ornamental needs by fertilization and weed control for residential customers.
As the Weed Man business grew, we also began providing vegetation management for the commercial and industrial sector. In 2009 we were awarded a 180 acre, 5 year contract with the City of Turlock, CA to provide them with weed management at their waste water facility. We have continued to acquire more accounts in this market, including the Cities of Bakersfield and Sacramento CA, DOT Foods, and McLane Pacific to name a few. In December of 2012, my youngest son, Perrin, teamed up with us and together we purchased “Allied Weed Control” from Carl Ahrendes who is retiring, and had been operating this entity for the past 30 years. This acquisition has enabled us to combine our commercial and industrial customers into one company.
We have been working closely with Carl at this time of transition to serve Allied Weed Control customers with the excellence they have come to expect and deserve. We bring to the weed industry years of experience, the vitality of youth and are eagerly looking forward to the future and serving you for years to come.
